We seek to foster excellence in general and academic staff performance by finding ways to acknowledge meritorious contributions to the School.
These awards are in addition to recognition through promotion and improved remuneration.
Our two awards are:
Jan Watt Memorial prize
This prize for Excellence in Public Health Field Research, which began in 1997, is awarded every two years.
It is named for Jan Watt, a research nurse and a pioneer in the collection of data from the community. The prize can be won by a general staff member, a postgraduate student or a research group for outstanding commitment to high quality fieldwork.

Citizenship Award
The Citizenship Award was first presented in 2004. It is given annually to a general or academic staff member who has excelled in their altruistic contributions devoted to helping others and helping the School overall to be more efficient, productive and a good place to work and study.
