School Research Renewal Project

Presentation

Miss the Research Renewal Project meeting?
The full presentation can be found here:

Following discussion and support for the proposal at SET and Finance and Strategic Planning in July 2015, the issue of ‘renewing’ research was raised at the July Whole of School meeting as an invitation to staff to provide their input into how they considered the school could support researchers and research to enable it to ‘flourish’ rather than ‘survive’.

  • How can we foster research only staff to ensure they feel connected to the School and grow their research programmes?
How can we support teaching and research staff to develop and grow their research programmes?
How can we foster and support HDR students to engage collegially within the School?
  • What is the optimal governance structure for the School to support and grow research within the School?
  • What administrative processes should be in place to support and grow research within the School?
  • Is the current suite of incentives appropriate to support and grow research within the School?
  • Does the workload model have a role in supporting research and researchers (research only and teaching and research) within the School and if so, are changes required to workload calculation?
The full report, including actions planned to address:
  1.     Fostering interaction and collaboration,
  2.     Supporting PhD students and early career researchers,
  3.     Particular issues for teaching and research staff
  4.     Raising the profile of SPH research and researchers
