The Data Linkage Branch develops and maintains a system connecting data for health and medical research.
Its operations depend on access to personal identifying information from each of the contributing data sources, but the actual health details are stored and managed separately.
These linkages are created and maintained using rigorous protocols and managed by the Health Information Public Health Division of the WA Department of Health.
Senior academic representatives from the University of Western Australia, Curtin University of Technology, and the Telethon Institute for Child Health Research, provide strategic advice through the Data Linkage Advisory Board.
