Marine radio log on and off behaviour

This study measures the rate of logging on and off behaviour using marine radio among recreational boaters in WA.

It identifies why some recreational boaters in WA do log on using marine radio while others do not. It also explores some of the barriers associated with logging on and off using marine radio and looks at measures that may encourage recreational boaters to log on and off using marine radio.

The 545 participants were invited to complete a questionnaire at the Perth boat show, the Mandurah Boat Show and through a number of regional volunteer marine search and rescue groups between August and November 2008.

Exploring the suggestions made by the respondents may assist in developing promotional strategies that will encourage boaters to log on and off using a marine radio.
