Funding
The marine safety program is funded by the Western Australian Department for Planning and Infrastructure through the Marine Safety Directorate.
It is a joint initiative between UWA and the Planning and Transport Research Centre (PATREC).
This research program explores all aspects of marine safety with a specific focus on recreational boaters.
The focus for the research program is twofold:
- To explore marine-related injury and incidents using epidemiological methods
- To evaluate marine safety education and training programs
An important issue for our research is developing methods for collecting relevant data and the analysis of such data to support marine safety counter-measures.
