One of the key strategic directions of the Centre is to continue to facilitate collaborative research with academic, industry, government and community partners at state, national and international level.
To date, the Centre has been extremely successful in developing formalised research collaborations to gain competitive research funding to support health services research.
Recent examples include a partnership with the Sax Institute (NSW) and University of Sydney in gaining a $2.3 million, five-year National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) capacity building grant in Health Services Research (awarded in 2009) to use linked health/medical data to investigate reproductive health.
Further, an National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) partnership grant application for $1.5 million to investigate rural cancer health services was recently submitted to the 2010 funding round. This application includes a collaborative partnership with the WA Cancer Council and WA Department of Health who have formally agreed to provide matching funds for the project.
Examples of the external organisations with which the Centre is currently engaged with collaborative research efforts include the following:
