This 18-month collaborative research study will undertake research to:

  • evaluate the costs and availability of care for catastrophically injured persons in Western Australia 
  • estimate the cost of care incurred by compensable and non compensable parties
  • obtain a clear understanding and measure of the accessibility of care and assistance provided to non-compensable catastrophically injured people in WA.

This study is unique in its approach to investigating the issues from a consumer and community perspective with consumers, carers and researchers being equal partners throughout the entire research process. The School’s Community and Consumer Advisory Council is strongly involved in this project.

Approximately $200,000 has been awarded by the Insurance Commission of Western Australia (ICWA) for the study led by Dr Rachael Moorin (ACERH-UWA).
